Like all Canadians in the U.S., Cathi Black dominates an
integral aspect of American life. Her early years in the Northern
Factory of Subversion show us the refined process potential
Canadian cultural exports undergo so that they might continue
their stranglehold effortlessly and undetected. While still
a sapling she sprouts into the music scene in her native Toronto
commandeering the merchandise division of an international
concert promotion company. T-shirts and tours are her first
charge, the tender outer layer if you will. She then goes
on to oversee the formation of the company’s new booking
agency focusing the eye that sees all manner of entertainment.
It is in Vancouver, BC, a similar climate and social atmosphere
to her target city of Los Angeles, where she spends her next
years producing an international music conference/festival
and managing artists. Her love for film and a “chance”
meeting at a Film Festival, lead her to music supervision.
She is now graduated to super agent and ready to head, with
her trusty canine tracker, to the sunny capitol of American
media. Her LA campaign in music supervision is now effective
and lasting, landing her in our BWN fold. In her current position
as Music Supervisor/Producer she leads the pack through what
will capture the hearts and minds and stir the soul of our
waiting nation.
